Do you find keeping a sourdough starter alive too difficult? Or maybe you just don’t have time to master all of the ins and outs of baking sourdough bread. Don’t let that stop you from baking your own bread at home – I’ve got the BEST homemade bread recipe for you and it is SO simple!
Ingredients
- 1 ⅔ Cups Lukewarm Water
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 2 tsp Instant Yeast
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 ½ tbsp butter, cubed at room temperature
- 4 ½ cups organic, unbleached flour
Directions
- Combine yeast, 1 tsp sugar and half of the water. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add remaining water, sugar, honey, salt, butter and 4 cups flour. Knead with dough hook (or by hand!) until dough comes together. Add more flour if necessary. Knead for 6-9 minutes.
- Put in lightly greased bowl, cover, place in a warm area, and let rise for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Flour work surface. Divide dough into two equally sized portions.
- Press each portion into a rectangle, fold into itself, roll up and pinch seams. Place into two greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise for 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 390°
- Bake loaves for 25-30 minutes.
- Invert bread, brush tops with butter.
This is our very favorite bread recipe, and the one we’ve been using each week rather than buying bread at the store! We pair ours with Homemade Cinnamon Honey Butter!
